The Event

The City of Albert Lea is excited to announce that the fourth Annual "Land Between to Lakes Triathlon" will be held on Sunday May 18, 2008 at 9:00am.

The race start and transition will be at the west end of Edgewater Park. The race will begin with a .25 mile open water swim in Fountain Lake. Participants will then transition to a 19.8 mile bike through Albert Lea area country side, fairly flat with some rolling hills, mostly on newly paved roads. Racers will then transition for a 4.2 mile run along scenic Edgewater Park and Fountain Lake, fairly flat and fast course with minimal traffic.

This race is limited to 300 entries. Further information about registration and deadlines will be coming shortly. If you need more information prior to details being released please visit the contact page

The race will be timed by Pickle Events using Champion Chip Timing Technology as part of the Tri Minnesota Series.

Important Note: There is a good chance the weather will be cold on the day of the event. The organizers and sponsors highly recommend the use of a wetsuit. If you need to rent one, please visit www.wetsuitrentals.com. Click here to view past years race time water temperatures. These will be updated annually.

If you are interested in renting a wetsuit for a nominal fee with the option to purchase, please contact the race organizer.

Also, as a sponsor of the Tri-Minnesota Series, Erik's Bike Shop is offering a special discount on Zoot wetsuits for all registered race participants. Please visit Erik's from the sponsors and links page for more information and be sure to visit the other sponsors as well.

Also worth noting:

Jason Digman will again be sponsoring a swim clinic on May 17, 2008 at the race site at 3:00 PM for anyone interested. Bring your wetsuit and try out the course. That same evening at 5:00 PM there will be a clinic about triathlon in general at the Country Inn And Suites. Open to any registered participant.

Country Inn and Suites of Albert Lea is offering a special rate for racers. Make sure to visit their website which can be accessed from the sponsors and links page.
